1620 Club: Wine Tasting with Scott Burns

By PSU Alumni Association (other events)

Sunday, October 14 2018 3:00 PM 5:00 PM PDT

ABOUT ABOUT

Learn all about how the soils, geology, climate, soil biota together affect the
flavors of the wine (it is called terroir, making Burns a terroirist).

Scott Burns, Emeritus Geology Professor from PSU, will take us through a
flight of some great white wines, a rosé, some super Pinot Noirs, some
unbelievable heavy reds, and a port.  Scott will also talk about the
winemaker (Dereck Lawrence) and the vineyard manager (Jerry Marshall)
who also affect the flavors.

Scott won one of the five big awards from the Oregon Wine Board two years
ago for the whole state - top support person to the industry - for his work on
terroir.

Oswego Hills Winery has been making wonderful wines for years and you
can come and taste them.

(Cost of ticket includes up to 15 tastes of different wines and finger food to go with the tastings.)
