ABOUT ABOUT

Join us for the popular winery tour led by Scott Burns, Geology Professor Emeritus, Winner of the 2017 Oregon Wine Board's Industry Partner Award. During the tour and on the bus between wineries, Dr. Burns will share the history of Oregon soil, why this area is perfect for making pinot noir, and much more!

The charter bus will stop at 3 wineries: Elk Cove Winery, Ponzi Winery, and Brooks Winery.

WINE TOUR DETAILS
10:00am- Leave PSU (we are meeting at the loop in front of the Peter W. Stott center on SW Park Ave. and SW College St.)

11:00am- Elk Cove Winery, Gaston, Oregon- Sample a flight of fine wines and their "terroir trilogy" of pinot noir from the three major soil types in the Willamette Valley. We will have time to enjoy a picnic lunch (please bring your own) at the beautiful Elk Cove Winery.

2:00pm- Ponzi Winery, Sherwood, Oregon- Taste a flight of wines highlighted by pinot noirs from the new Laurelwood AVA. The head winemaker, Luisa Ponzi, is also a PSU alumna!

3:00pm- Brooks Winery, Amity, Oregon- Brooks is famous for terroir tasting using grapes from the Eola Hills which have different terroir because of the Van Duzer afternoon winds. Taste pinot noir and riesling wines grown on the three different types of soil in the valley- true terroir tasting!

6:00pm- Arrive back at PSU.

Cost includes tasting fees. Guests are encouraged to purchase wine at the wineries.

Please be sure to bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy the stunning views of Oregon's wine country just outside of Portland. Water bottles and light snacks will be provided.

We will be meeting the tour bus at the south end of the PSU park blocks at 9:45 am (in front of the Stott Center). The bus will leave promptly at 10am.
