ABOUT ABOUT

Cruise the mighty Mississippi; visit the Sydney Opera house, tour the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire, and many more sights are among the PSU Alumni Association’s 2018 Viking Adventures Program.

We invite you to join us for a brief lecture led by Portland State faculty member & ancient history expert, Professor Brian Turner followed by a hosted wine & cheese reception. Professor Turner will share his expertise on the Ancient Roman Empire in his lecture titled, "Travel in the Ancient Roman World".

At its height, the Roman empire stretched across the entire Mediterranean Sea, from modern Britain to Egypt, from Morocco to the far shores of the Black Sea. A vast network of roads, ports, and sea routes facilitated travel throughout the empire. In this lecture, Professor Brian Turner will explore how and what the Romans knew about their world and how and why they traveled through it.

Following the lecture, you will learn more about the wonderful and exciting places you and your fellow Vikings could go in 2018!

Visit our site to check out the exciting travel adventures we are offering in 2018!
